McCain Foods has announced a major expansion of its plant in Araxá, Minas Gerais, Brazil, committing R$1.8 billion (≈ US$317 million) to boost production of frozen potato products. The project includes a new french-fries line and additional pre-formed products capacity aimed at meeting accelerating demand across retail, foodservice, and quick-service restaurant channels nationwide.

The expanded facility is planned to come online in the second half of 2027, significantly increasing output and strengthening supply reliability for the Brazilian market. Alongside processing, the investment encompasses additional raw-potato storage and cold-storage capacity for finished goods to ensure year-round availability.

McCain notes that Brazil is on track to become one of the world’s top three markets for frozen french fries, and this expansion is designed to support that trajectory. The company expects the project to generate hundreds of direct jobs at the Araxá site and to engage a broader network of growers, logistics partners, and technical specialists across the value chain.

Sustainability standards are also central to the plan. The Araxá operation already emphasizes renewable energy use and low-carbon practices, and the upcoming expansion is intended to align with these global operational benchmarks for resource efficiency and emissions.
