Belgapom Price Listings for 2023-2024: Fontane and Challenger

Merelbeke – During the 2023-2024 season, Belgapom will be publishing weekly price listings for the potato varieties Fontane and Challenger, discontinuing observations for other varieties. This decision was ratified by the Belgapom Board of Directors earlier this week.

Christophe Vermeulen, CEO of Belgapom, stated, “By providing weekly price listings for Fontane and Challenger, which are among the most widely used potato varieties, the committee covers a significant portion of potato transactions. We noticed that observations for other varieties were causing confusion, which is why we have decided to discontinue them. The pricing will continue to be released as usual on Friday mornings and will be made available on www.belgapom.be.”

The Belgapom price is the most commonly observed price for the varieties Fontane and Challenger. It applies to potatoes with a field size of 35 mm and above, suitable for processing into frozen potato products. The price is quoted ex-producer, loose on truck, for immediate delivery/pickup.

The Belgapom price is determined by a committee comprising 5 representatives from the processing sector and 5 representatives from the trade sector of Belgapom.
