We’re at the farm of Kirim Abdurashidovich Chelebiev (Republic of Crimea, Dzhankoysky District). About 300 hectares here are under the “borsch set” of vegetables — potatoes, onions, carrots (as well as tomatoes and eggplant). The season is hot: plants are under stress and emergence is patchy in places, so the focus is on disciplined field operations and a systematic protection program.
What we saw in the field:
- Potatoes are holding up differently across plots, but the canopy is protected and there’s solid potential.
- Onions respond to precise timing of operations and careful nutrition.
- Carrots are demanding at the start — with weak emergence, gentle feeding and monitoring make the difference.
