Translucent End and Jelly End Rot

The stem end of tubers are soft, jelly-like and slightly watery. The affected area may extend up to 3 cm from the stem end.

Translucent End (Sugar End). High temperature or moisture stress during the early stages of tuber growth may interfere with starch deposition at the stem end of
the tuber.
Jelly End Rot. Often, the tissue of tubers affected with translucent end breaks down. This breakdown is called jelly end rot. In hot seasons, heavy losses occur
in varieties susceptible to jelly end rot.

Affected tubers often have pointed ends
