Schaap Holland has been working with potatoes for more than 50 years, starting as a small retailer and
slowly developing into an internationally operating player. Schaap Holland is active in the development
of new potato varieties and the introduction and sales of licensed- and free varieties all around the
world.
Schaap Holland has a wide package of potato varieties for various marketing channels. Specific
varieties are available for each segment. However, there are also varieties that are suitable for more
than one marketing channel – the so-called multipurpose varieties. The various segments are:

Peeled potato varieties
French fries varieties
Chips varieties
The propagation of seed potatoes principally takes place in the north and centre of the Netherlands
on the light and medium heavy clay soils at specialised (pre-breeding) seed potato growers. From
planting, selecting, lifting, grading up to delivering, our growers are highly motivated to produce and
supply the very best quality seed potatoes.
In addition, Schaap Holland is one of the biggest companies in the Netherlands in the field of potato
processing. The marketing activities of Schaap Holland for ware potatoes encompass a wide scope. We
are active in the following markets: ware potatoes grown as table potatoes for various supermarket
chains; ware potatoes grown as a raw material for the processing industry; ware potatoes for export
destinations and ware potatoes destined for Schaap Holland’s own peeling plant.
